How NATIX Keeps Its Crypto Community Safe Around the Clock
The NATIX community is one of the things we're proudest of. Tesla drivers, beta testers, token holders and people who simply follow what we're building talk to each other and to us every day on Telegram and Discord, from all over the world.
That reach comes with a cost every crypto project knows. The bigger and more active a community gets, the more it attracts people who want to take advantage of it.
What we were up against
If you've spent time in a crypto community, you've seen these:
Fake support. Accounts that copy a team member's name and photo, then DM people offering "help" with their wallet or rewards.
Fake tickets. Messages pushing members to "open a support ticket" through a link or a bot that isn't ours, where the real goal is a seed phrase or a wallet signature, often with the link broken across lines so filters can't read it.
Scam bots posting fake airdrops, wallet "validation" links and giveaway screenshots, often as images so keyword filters miss them.
Messages in every language, so a scam in a language nobody on the team reads can sit unnoticed.
None of this keeps office hours. A lot of it lands at night and on weekends, when the team is offline.
The old setup
For a long time we handled this the way most projects do: rule-based bots for the obvious spam, plus people. Our own team moderated during working hours, and outside help covered nights and weekends.
It worked, but it had real limits:
Rules lag behind scammers. Every new trick needed a new filter, written after members had already seen it.
Coverage had gaps. Hand-offs between shifts, languages nobody on shift spoke, and image scams a keyword list can't read.
Fake support is hard to spot by rules. A message that says "DM me, I'm from the team" looks harmless to a filter.
What we changed
We moved our Telegram and Discord moderation to collony.ai. Its Telegram moderation bot reads every message, image and link in context instead of matching keywords. It works alongside the verification bot we already use for new members.
In practice that means:
Scams are usually removed within seconds, and almost always within a minute. That includes image-based scams like fake celebrity casino ads and get-rich-quick screenshots.
Fake support accounts are caught when someone copies a team member's name or photo, or starts steering people to "tickets" outside our official channels.
Scams in other languages are caught too. French, Italian, German, Chinese, Dutch and Portuguese scams get the same treatment as English ones.
An AI assistant answers common questions around the clock, trained on our own docs, so members get a real answer instead of a reply from a fake "support" account.
The same setup runs on both platforms from one dashboard. Our Telegram groups and our Discord server, protected by collony.ai's Discord moderation bot, follow the same rules and show up in the same reports.
The results
24/7 coverage without outside help for nights and weekends.
Significantly lower community management cost.
595 scam and spam messages removed over 90 days, 68% of them outside working hours.
186 fake support and fake ticket scams taken down before members could act on them.
94% removed within a minute.
291 member questions answered by the AI assistant, 62% of them outside working hours.
The part we care about most is harder to put in a number: scams still arrive every week, but members rarely get to see them.
What our community team does now
Moderation used to take up most of the community team's time. Now the tool handles the routine work, and the team focuses on what needs a person: investigating support tickets, answering the hard questions and collecting feedback from the community.
The tool flags the judgment calls, and collony.ai's team reviews them. Nothing gets banned without a clear reason that shows up in the log.
If you run a crypto community
Three things we'd tell any project in our position:
Plan for nights and weekends first. That's where the damage happens.
Tell members where real support lives, and catch everyone pretending to be it.
Keep a person in the loop. Automation should take the volume, not the judgment.
Disclosure: collony.ai is led by a member of the NATIX marketing team.
